Bloggers often talk about going "live" and how it is a big deal. But what do they mean? What does it mean for a website to go "live?" Well, there are a couple of ways that a website can go live. One way is when a site goes up on the internet through an Internet service provider (ISP) such as Comcast or Time-Warner Cable. Another way is when you get your hands on the username and password for your domain name to host content from where ever you want online. Most of us are used to blogs that are hosted on Blogspot.com, Wordpress.com, Typepad.com, or Blogger.com. These types of blogging platforms only allow a blog to be a static page with a blog type text comment section in it. They don't offer a whole lot in terms of features and customization options that set them apart from the rest of the pack when compared to other blogging platforms such as LiveJournal or Myspace. This means that when you go live for the first time you have an open platform in order to build your audience by letting them know who you are and what you do right from the beginning when they come to your site for the first time. Whether or not that is a good thing really depends on how you look at it. A lot of people think that coming online for the first time and having all of your content and ideas out there for everyone to see is a bit scary. Some never even come back and go live after the first time because they were so scared about their writing or about what people might think. Others thrive off of putting themselves out there for the world to see, so it must be done. This is why many bloggers say that going live is such a big deal. It is marking a new part of your blogging life. It is something that you do once and never go back from in a sense. You start a blog in a platform such as Wordpress or Blogger, and then when you’ve built up an audience and ready to expand, you move to going live. There is really no going back from it after that point. There are some great benefits to going live for the first time though. One of the biggest benefits of going live for the first time is that everything you write and post is up and out there for everyone to see, but at the same time you have all of these great features at your fingertips in order to help you optimize the look, design, and feel of your site. One of the greatest things about going live is that it becomes a very personal website when hosted on a platform such as Blogger or Wordpress. Going live also means that you have a lot more control over how many ads are shown on your site. Going live allows for more customization in order to host a blog in order to incorporate ads into your blog in a way that will not take away from the user experience in any way. cfa1e77820
