Teeth is a groundbreaking and captivating Hindi-language film directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. It premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, where it won both the Best Director award for Ghosh and The Camera d'Or (The Best Cinematography Award) for Deepak Kumar. Teeth has been significantly publicized as one of few Indian films to feature three layers of dialogues: English, Hindi, and Bengali. The film was well received critically and received numerous awards at major Film Festivals around the world. It was particularly favourably reviewed by prominent film critics such as Roger Ebert, Mark Kermode, and Manohla Dargis of The New York Times. The film is set in the year 2005, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A group of young men are on break from work for a vacation at a beach resort called Sandy Bay. They spend their time playing volleyball, eating pancakes and talking about their lives. One of the men, Saukat Ali (Emraan Hashmi) and his wife Imrana (Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela's Pooja Bhatt) live in a little village named Perigar, situated near darkness and poverty. They have four children: Dolly (Deepika Padukone), Saajan (Javed Sheikh), Shazi (Gautam Rode) and Alisha (Rowna Mahajan). A new flat has been built in Perigar by their boss Mr Ahmed (Roshan Seth), who is also the father of Dolly's boyfriend Mobeen. Saukat Ali is no longer able to work due to an injury, and his wife has taken up the responsibility of running the house with the help of family members. Mobeen (Sohail Khan) comes to visit them, and they are invited for dinner at Mr Ahmed's house. Mobeen is introduced as an uneducated man who does not know what is happening in the world. Saukat is convinced by Mobeen's father-in-law that Mobeen is intelligent and good-natured, but Dolly doesn't trust him because he had helped them break into their house in Perigar. At dinner, the families go out on a boat ride together. Dolly is the only one who doesn't take part in the boat ride. Imrana, Saajan and Alisha get upset with her for this, while Mobeen suggests that she is afraid to go. As they reach deep into the sea, Mr Ahmed takes out photos of his family. Dolly tries to leave the boat but Amma (Ayesha Takia), Mr Ahmed's wife, stops her and gives her a necklace before she leaves. The next day Mobeen arrives at Perigar with his father-in-law who takes them to visit his house in their truck. Eventually Saukat Ali gets up after recovering from his injury. cfa1e77820
